CDC reports that recent listeria outbreak linked to deli foods has resulted in several deaths
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has reported a troubling increase in deaths from a listeria outbreak that originated in Boar's Head deli meats. Since the outbreak was discovered in May, there have been eight confirmed deaths, with five more deaths occurring in the past three weeks. The outbreak led to 57 hospitalizations as contaminated products were traced to various types of deli meats, including ham, beef and poultry, processed at the Boar's Head plant in Virginia.
