Happy Trails to You...
USA
July 6, 2008
After much thought, I have decided to suspend further updates to the Bean Watcher site.

At the beginning of the year, I had great hopes for Ty's new line of plush toys.  But instead of generating more excitement, it is apparent that interest in beanies has waned.  Collecting Ty beanies, for this long-time collector, simply is not the same.  The fun, excitement, and magic of years gone by are just fond memories.

I won't call this announcement a "retirement" since it sounds so final.  And I won't say "good-bye" since Ty, Inc. may become "collector - friendly" once again.  Who knows, I may decide to re-appear in the months ahead. There are interesting new styles waiting to be introduced and I may want to share the news when the time is right.

So for now, I'll just say, "See you later..."  The first few lines of a popular song by the late Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, "Happy Trails," appropriately express my sentiments:

Happy trails to you, until we meet again.
Happy trails to you, keep smilin' until then.
Who cares about the clouds when we're together?
Just sing a song and bring the sunny weather.
Happy trails to you, 'till we meet again.

Thank you for the times we shared together.  I hope that you'll always find the beanies you want, now and in the future.

Happy Independence Day, America!
USA
July 4, 2007
In the USA, Independence Day, July 4th, celebrates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence in 1776.  According to the online dictionary, Wikipedia.com:

Families often mark the Fourth of July with a picnic or barbecue, and take advantage of the long weekend or off-day to gather with relatives. Decorations (e.g., streamers, balloons, and clothing) generally are colored red, white, and blue due to the colors of the American Flag.... Parades are often held in the morning, baseball games played (July 4th being nearly halfway into the baseball season), and fireworks displays in public parks in the evening. Other traditions include face painting for children and tossing of a football or frisbee.

From the Email Bag:  Ty Classic Ness-e Available
    Scotland, UK
    June 29, 2008
Linda from Scotland, who works at the Nessie Shop, shares the news that the Ty Classic version of Ness-e is available.  Two versions exist (both are officially identified as UK exclusives).  One version comes with the store's logo.  The other comes without the logo.   Linda shares the cost to ship the plush toy to the USA (slightly edited):

The shipping will be about the same as for 1 beanie - it is when there are more Classics that it hard to work out the price...  Two Classics cost 10 pounds to post.  So I estimate the price for the USA will be one Classic -  7 pounds, 2 Classics - 10 pounds, and then I will quote by weight.

    Beanieland General Store Opens
    USA
    June 27, 2008
Brendan from Massachusetts, webmaster of Sloth it Up! shares that the Beanieland General Store has (finally) opened.  He writes:

    Hello, big BB2.0 news today!

The general store is now open. There are two parts to the store- an actual store and a trading post. The store includes several different food items and also items for the Big Book of Beanies.

The trading post allows users to trade in unwanted items in exchange for beans. Prices vary for each item, which I show on my website.

The garden is the answer to the mysterious watering can users obtained a while back. In the garden (located at the Beanies home), beans from the back pack are used to grow bean stalks which in turn produce beans. I still haven't figured it out entirely... too complicated lol.

More information and pictures can be found on my site.

Three New Beanies to be Introduced?
    Illinois and New Jersey, USA
    June 26, 2008
Jennifer from New Jersey shares that the Beanie Land News Update (which can be seen on Ty.com) suggests that three new Beanie Babies 2.0s (BB 2.0s) will be introduced.  She writes (slightly edited):

I wanted to send a quick note to let everyone know that I am back to updating the latest BB2.0 news on the Beanie Babies 2.0 List / Group over at Stashmatic.com (click here)....  Now I've been trying to record what's been happening in the animated installments that feature Snootz, using screen captures to post blogs with a quick synopsis of each installment.  That way if anyone misses any, they can find out the latest happenings by checking the group page if they'd like.  Today's installment shows hints of three new 2.0s which I suspect will be formerly introduced over the next few days.

I highly encourage everyone to watch the actual installments on the new Ty homepage though, because they are really adorable and creative.  I feel they are not to be missed and I have found new ones being posted about every three or so days.

Bean Watcher comments:  (1) Thank you for sharing news of your blog with us!  (2) I counted two BB 2.0s that are hinted in the video "Midas - King of the Jungle" and the creature in Beanie Land Lake -- a dolphin.  Jennifer is also counting Trooper -- Midas' security guard dog.

From the Email Bag:  A Summer Harvest for Beanies
    Colorado, USA
    June 26, 2008
Lisa from Colorado shares a picture of her beanie display with us.  She writes:

Here in eastern Colorado, the summer wheat harvest is the last week of June or the first week of July depending on how fast the wheat matures.  As a tribute to all those hard working farmers, I put together a display of Johnny on his farm.  Like any farmer, he has lots of animals.  He has 2007 Asian Zodiac Pig, Gussy the goose, Daisy the cow and Homeland the chicken.  Because harvest time is hard work, Johnny has a hired hand, The End from Matthew Owen's world challenge.  I hope you enjoy the picture!
